This is our animation about the process of a turtle hatching. First the mother turtle lays the egg in the sand. Then sixty days later the eggs hatch. Only 80% of the eggs hatch. When the egg hatches they make their way towards the sea. They often hatch at night and follow the moon towards the sea. But if there are any car lights it can disorientate the baby turtles.
We made this animation using two apps, iMotion HD and iMovie. If you could like to make an animation like this follow the steps below:
We made this animation using two apps, iMotion HD and iMovie. If you could like to make an animation like this follow the steps below:
- We set up the background against a wall.
- Then we moulded a turtle and an egg using clay.
- We put the turtle inside the egg.
- Then we set up the iPad and iMotion HD.
- We chose the manual setting.
- We took lots of pictures one by one making little movement.
- The minimum photos was seventy pictures. We had one hundred and thirty five.
- We needed to concentrate on small movements, not big jumps.
- Also we had to be careful to keep the frame still and not move the iPad.
- We had to delete some photos that hands or were out of focus.
- Once we had finished we changed the frames per second to six or seven.
- This video is actually four animations edited together using iMovie.
- We published our animation on our school video site NewTube.
